Southern Vietnam offers a vast array of attractions for the curious traveler from golden beaches to rolling hills and traditional villages. And there is no better way of exploring this scenic and diverse landscape than by bicycle. This eight-day adventure uses pedal power to access the back-roads and beauty spots of this stunning region, from the verdant mountains of the Central Highlands to the coastal roads of Nha Trang, and the grasslands and national parks of Cat Tien, before ending in Ho Chi Minh City.

Tour's Program

Welcome to Saigon. Upon arrival guests will be greeted and transferred to the hotel.
Rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
This morning the adventure begins with an early morning flight from Saigon to the city of Buon Ma Thuot, located in the Central Highlands. This area is the heart of the coffee and pepper-growing region, and home to the Ede people. Transfer from the airport to the hotel for a late breakfast. Then transfer outside of town and start peddling through the countryside, past small villages, and the traditional stilt wood houses of the Ede people, with steep single-log ladders. The first 34 kilometers are on back roads, past small farms and through villages.
Here the route joins a road busy with motor scooters and local people moving from home into the fields. Continue riding through vast rice paddies to the Lak Lake. Stop along the way at a local restaurant for lunch.
Optional extra: If time permits, take a short elephant ride before dinner at Lak Lake Resort.
Overnight in Dak Lak.

Distance and journey time:
Transfer: 2.5 hrs
Cycling distance: up to 64km
Difficulty: Easy
After a quick 20-minute transfer, start the ride with some rolling hills, each one no longer than 3 km, making for some fun, occasionally steep, climbs and winding descents. Be greeted by smiles from local Jun and Ede people. Here there are vast swathes of bamboo, and a thousand shades of green.

After lunch at a local restaurant, the real riding begins, with an 18 km climb – that includes a few small flat sections to allow riders to rest. The last 22 km is downhill with spectacular views of coffee trees and mountains lining the distant horizon, in all directions.
Take a 20-minute shuttle ride into the flower capital of Dalat. One of the major industries in Dalat is the cut flower industry and the humming city is surrounded by mountains and greenhouses.
Enjoy dinner in a local restaurant, with some of the local greens and vegetables from the area. Overnight in Dalat.

Distance and journey time:
Transfer: 2 hrs
Cycling distance: up to 90km
Difficulty: Hard
Today’s journey is a challenging ride. Starting in Dalat, cycle past the sea of greenhouses up into pristine pine forests. The 40km ride is undulating, with more climbs than descents. Enjoy a picnic lunch along the way. The next 9 km is a climb up Hon Giao Pass, which offers beautiful views over the valley. The winding decent passes waterfalls and guests will quickly feel the temperatures increase as they drop in altitude. The last 30 km of the ride is over small rolling hills and through a valley towards the city of Nha Trang. Transfer for 45 minutes to the hotel.
This evening take a swim in the ocean before enjoying a local seafood dinner.
Overnight in Nha Trang.

Distance and journey time:
Transfer: 1.5 hrs
Cycling distance: up to 90km
Difficulty: Hard
After transferring for 1.5 hours, start riding on the very edge of the coast, past huge granite rocks that balance at strange angles in Nui Chua National Park. The road rolls for the first 30 km, revealing picturesque white sand beaches with turquoise waters, before reaching the fishing hamlet of Vinh Hai. Along the way guests will stop for a picnic lunch. Then climb for 4km for a breathtaking view of the undeveloped coast, with an equally stunning decent. Notice the difference in plant life, an arid landscape with some cacti mixed in. Guests will eventually reach Kanh Hai before transferring for two hours to Phan Thiet.
This evening, enjoy a refreshing swim in the ocean before dinner.
Overnight in Phan Thiet.

Distance and journey time:
Transfer: 3 hrs
Cycling distance: up to 63km
Difficulty: Medium
After a one-hour bus ride out of town to avoid the main highway, the day’s ride starts after leaving Ma Lan town. The first 21 km rolls through arid dragon fruit farms, past rice paddies and up into the subtropical forest. The next 5 km is a winding climb up to the town of Ta Pao. Enjoy a picnic lunch on route. The last 44 km is a quick ride with only a few small hills, as guests make their way deeper into the ethnic minority area of the Tay, Xtieng, Ma people. Arriving in Bac Ruong village, transfer 1 hour to Cat Tien National Park.
Tonight, you sleep in a traditional long house, set up with soft mattresses, white sheets, and mosquito nets. On arrival, relax in hammock or take a swim in the small lake. This evening see a traditional music performance of the Ma, Xtieng and Tay people, before dinner.
Overnight in Cat Tien.

Distance and journey time:
Transfer: 2 hrs
Cycling distance: up to 70km
Difficulty: Medium
After breakfast, cycle 12km from the hotel through the national park in a high grassland area. With some luck, guests may see one of the two deer species. As they leave the park, guests cycle on small back roads through the village of Tan Phu, riding past a network of lush rice fields which blanket the valley. Enjoy a local coffee before transferring three hours to Saigon.
